This week we catch up with Influencer, Maia Koumis...
How long have you been blogging and what motivated you to start?
3 years ago I started my own Depop shop, selling vintage designer clothing. I fell in love with collecting and photographing the clothes, and this gradually evolved into creating my own brand, connecting with followers who shared the same interests and learning a lot about online presence and marketing. Since then I have left Depop (it was a lot of work!) and focus solely on my Instagram page.
What has been your biggest challenge so far?
Posting anything online can be nerve-racking, as you are subject to criticism and judgement. Even navigating certain platforms or brand’s terms and conditions can be overwhelming and hard work! It can be easy to second guess yourself, and I would say my biggest challenge has been overcoming my own self doubt and just going for it!
Whats a typical day like for you?
I work 9-5 in IT, so a typical day consists of working on my laptop! I try to fill my spare time with shooting for instagram, attending events and connecting with other people in the industry.
Finally, If you had one piece of advice to give to other aspiring influencers, what would it be?
Be brave, and whatever you create - make sure it’s something that you are passion about, it will show in your work. I’ve found meeting others with similar interests and passions SO rewarding, so get out there and make some real-life connections!!
