This week we catch up with Model and Influencer, Megan Potter...
How has being an influencer changed your life?
I started working in this industry almost four years ago when I was still in school so I didn't have much time to focus on it. However, I began creating more interesting content, had a good theme going and my account began to grow. Tooth Fairy reached out to me and asked if I would be interested in collaborating with them - I was absolutely over the moon. Of course I agreed! My first collaboration went very well and they reposted my image. From then, my account kept growing and more companies reached out to me.
Being an influencer has made me so much more confident! I used to be sooooo shy and wouldn't speak to anybody! It's lovely being able to style your outfits and have an opinion on so many different things and places. It has given me so many amazing opportunities to work with brands that I used to dream of working with. It has also given me the opportunity to travel and visit some beautiful places.
The skills I have gained through being an influencer has also given me the opportunity to help other companies grow their accounts, in turn helping create more business and sales. I am invited to meetings and seminars to improve my knowledge and help these companies grow even bigger! It is super rewarding and a very valuable skill to have.
Tell us your goals for 2019... Is there anything particular you'd like to achieve this year?
Wow.... this is not an easy question. I have so many goals that I would love to achieve!! This year, I would LOVE to start taking travel blogging more seriously as well as continuing to focus on fashion and beauty. As there are thousands of influencers across the globe, it is difficult to get yourself noticed and out there. I have HUGE goals to push my social channels further, creating higher quality content and being more engaging with my followers.
I am currently working with a few photographers to help me create content in different settings such as: beaches, woodlands, towns etc. They are all really supportive and willing to help me at the same time as growing their own portfolio. Content is definitely one of the most important things to consider. You may have hundreds of thousands of followers but why would a company want to work with you if the content you create is no use to them? If it isn't visually appealing? If it doesn't stand out? You see what I'm getting at.
The same with engagement; your followers NEED to trust you. Your reviews and opinions have got to be honest.
I want to share my knowledge with other influencers, giving them a guide and a push to reach their own goals!
Aside from influencer goals, I would love to help with more charities; giving those the love and support they need. At some point in the next few years, I'd like to visit and LEDC and do as much as I possibly can for the children there; spending time with them, giving them the supplies that they need but may not be able to afford etc.
