Want to know what it takes to be a Travel Fashionista? This week we caught up with our VIP Member, Marjorie..
How long have you been blogging and what motivated you to start?
I started 2 years ago, for fun as I absolutely loved travelling and trying different cultural foods, as well as dressing up in the different cultural attires. Around the same time my love for shopping, particularly affordable high street clothing grew.
When I started blogging, I convinced myself that I wasn't good enough, and I soon realised that this wasn’t the case when Ricky Thompson featured me in his YouTube video (real confident booster!).
Growing up I couldn't afford the most stylish clothes and I vowed to myself that when I get older, I want to dress to impress on a budget!
I subconsciously started blogging about my outfits, creating a series of videos called 'Outfit of the day' (mainly done when I travel) on my Instagram story where I try and tell the truth about how the clothes feel and advise my followers to get a bigger size or a smaller size depending on their weight, as well as why I have worn the outfit.
The positive feedback I receive from my followers really uplift and inspire me, I struggled with my weight growing up, so it really means a lot.
What is your biggest challenge so far?
Stepping out my comfort zone. I find something's challenging, but I am learning to just do it. What do you have to lose, right?
Initially, I didn’t comfortable reaching out to brands and collaborating with people but I’m getting there now…
What's a typical day like for you?
The first thing that I love to do at the beginning of the day is pray, then head straight to the gym.
When I’m not working, I usually spend time with friends and family.
But what I really enjoy doing is exploring London and all that this breath-taking city has to offer, there are so many hidden gems that I want to introduce to my audience and I can’t wait to feature them all on my upcoming blog.
Finally, if you had one piece of advice to give to other aspiring influencers, what would it be?
Be yourself as no one can do you the way you do you, if you feel like your personality is not coming across to your followers, create videos in your stories or on your feed so they get to know you better, I found that this worked for me!
