I’ve been blogging for about 3 or 4 years now. It all started when I visited Dubai in 2016 with a friend. I shared where I was staying, what I was doing and places I’d go to eat and party through my snapchat and instagram. People were really engaged with my content and would message me saying they felt like they were there and were just so entertained but at the same time informed.
From there, I started sharing all my holiday experiences as I love to travel and became more open with my day to day, posting restaurants where I’d eat, lounges and spa days etc. People then started messaging me asking for reviews and recommendations, so it encouraged me to keep going.
I think the authenticity of my content and my personality is well received, so that’s helped a lot along the way.
What has been your biggest challenge so far?
I think my biggest challenge so far has probably been growing my audience, even now I’m still trying to figure out how to get my content more exposed and seen by fresh sets of eyes.
Self doubt at times I would say has been a bit of a challenge for me as well. It takes a lot of self motivation and confidence to kind of put yourself and your content out there. You often question like, is this good enough, will it be received well etc. But then that kind of goes away when you get messages or feedback from people saying how much they enjoyed your content.
Well up until recently I had a full time job working in property, so my days consisted predominantly of working super long hours and finishing the day in a bar or restaurant to relieve the stress! Aha.
But I’ve kind of taken a complete 360 now, because I gave up working full time to focus on building my brand. It was really difficult trying to juggle and invest the time needed whilst having a full time job, so I sort of took a leap of faith.
Now I find myself with a lot more time to focus on creating content for my life skills & networking platform and building my personal brand. I also spend a lot of time listening to podcasts or watching interviews with successful business owners and entrepreneurs. I find a lot of inspiration and comfort in listening to their journeys and the pitfalls they’ve faced along the way. It’s really motivational!
Finally, If you had one piece of advice to give to other aspiring influencers, what would it be?
Be unapologetically & authentically you! That’s what people love about bloggers & influencers, more than the way they look, things they have or places they go... I think people buy into people. And when you look back, you can feel proud in knowing you didn’t compromise who you are xx
