This week we catch up with one of our favourite (and honest) motherhood influencers, Zai...
How long have you been blogging and what motivated you to start?
To be honest I’ve been blogging since about 2013 on different platforms! I have a romantic relationship with writing. It’s beautifully intimate to be able to express myself in word and I can’t get enough of it. I started my current blog “After Lifeless Birth” after suffering a late miscarriage. It was one of the hardest times of my life but I found it helpful to delve into my feelings through writing about it. My blog has since connected with so many people who now have an insight into something that it’s incredibly painful and common! That motivates me to carry on!
What has been your biggest challenge so far?
My biggest challenge is being consistent! Any writer will tell you that mental blocks are common and in terms of my topic it’s easy to feel like I’ve exhausted it. However, I’ve tried to adapt my posts and my topic has changed slightly as my life has changed. I now also explore my journey as a new mother!
What's a typical day like for you?
A typical day as a new blogger mother in quarantine is a bit hectic! My day is a cycle that starts at 1am and continues every 3-4 hours. I write and prepare blogposts whilst breastfeeding or if I’m lucky when my son Jonas has a nap! I also try to engage with lots of people online through interacting with posts throughout my day. The rest of my day are for me; prayer and reflection, a freshly cooked meal, listening to piano classics on vinyl, binge-watching ‘Money Heist’, and I love a salt bath to end the evening!
Finally, If you had one piece of advice to give to other aspiring influencers, what would it be?
My one piece of advice for aspiring influencers is honesty creates real and lasting connections! I’ve made friends in my online community and those tend to be the people that share my posts and give me the most exposure!
